Default Sousuke or Jin?

I have 2 characters ready to get one of them, an Assassin and a Ritualist. I've already unlocked them on my other 2 chars, a Mesmer and a Warrior. What I chose was easy for those two: my Mes had Ele sub and my War had Ranger sub, so I went with the same profession for ech because I had unlocked skills. But I don't know who would go better?

Sousuke has nuking and massive damage.

Jin can interrupt and lay down some conditions.

Which should I take on my Assassin? On my Ritualist?

I always prefer the ranger but it is really a personal preference. Which one of them was the best or most helpful for your other characters?

It was even, because I had the skills already to set them both up with awesome builds. I have no Ele or Ranger skills on my 2 Factions characters, so I'm not sure which is better. Sousuke seems like he can send out more damage, but Jin can interrupt. I'm hoping someone can suggest a good synergy between a particular hero and my own chars.

Reading your post, I am not sure if you are aware of this, but your heroes are able to use ANY skill unlocked on your account. That means even if your Warrior has never went /E, Sousuke can still use all of the skills your Mesmer may have unlocked.

So say I pick Sousuke on my Assassin, he can use any Ele skill I already unlocked? In that case, it would make my choice easier.

...okay, no, it wouldn't. It would just make making good builds easier.

I'm a fan of having Jin. The henchies make for adequate nukers and warders while you're in Kourna, and you get Zhed pretty early on the Mainland--not long after Venta Cemetery Mission.

Jin you could set with a number of options--interrupter, using ranger and mesmer skills from your mes (Jin + signets + distracting and savage shots...sweet); or conditions (poison, burning, bleeding, crippling), or barraging (splinter + barrage is still a nice combo despite the nerf, or, for some variety, try mark of pain + barrage), and so on.

I should admit I have a ranger primary, so I have lots of the skills unlocked for her. But R/Me is a good hero to have to keep Kournan scribes and Margonite Seers off of you.

Happy killing!

Think of it this way. You''ll get Margrid the Sly and maybe you can even get Pyre sometime soon. Two Eles is something that is very popular though. How often do you have 2 hero rangers on a team compared to eles. In my experience, start with Sousuke and get Jin later.

Look ahead to your next hero decision point. Will you want the necro or the ranger? If you want the Master of Whispers, then select Jin now; Margrid then take Sousuke now.

You want to be sure that you don't end up with no ranger hero until the end of the campaign.

You do know that later on you will get another ele, Zhed, and further along get to to choose between another ranger, Magrid and a nec, Master of Whispers? By then, you will also have had the opportunity to get the nec, Olias, and the 'sin, Zenmai.

If you take Souske now, you can get Margrid later since, if you've gotten Olias, you won't need MoW.

Odura, the mes hench, does a fair job with interrupts.

On most of my chars playing NF, I run with Koss, Sousuke and Olias and Mhenlo, Kim, Herta and Odura (once I've gotten far enough to get the two healer hench).

I do that nearly all the time... on all my 10 pve profs. IMO 1 elem is enough... cant have enough rangers.

In my opinion: Ele heroes > Ranger heroes. I get more damage out of them.

I tend to agree. While my ranger character can make good use of things like apply poison, screaming shot, and burning shot to stack conditions, my hero rangers seem to be poor at doing that. Instead, I use ranger heroes more for interrupts. OTOH, there isn't anything complex about laying down large amounts of damage w/ elementalist spells, so the heroes are good at that.

Same here, I'm a sucker for interrupts. Rangers and Mesmers are always my first choice.

Picking Jin then Whispers is useful, as you can make Jin use Winter and interrupts to make Rilohn Refuge easier.

I always take Ele first up, then later take Magrid, then hope over and get Olias. This then gives you awesome options when working your way through till you unlock them all.

This allows me to have 2 Ele's (standard for me), and swop between MM and Interupter (Magrid). This (in NM) makes the story impossibly easy.

Take Sousuke IMO

I always take Magrid to avoid having to do dzagonir bastion mission, however, I also have access to Olias, so I don't need Master of Whispers. If you can't get Olias (because you don't have Prophecies) then you may want to take Master of Whispers since he is the only Necro hero you will be able to get and they can be very useful.

So, if you plan to take Magrid, I would take Sousuke because I think 2 Eles are more powerful than 2 rangers. (This is what I usually do because I already have a necro hero.)

If you plan to take Master of Whispers, then I would take Jin as having a Ranger is extremely useful at many points in the game.

Not sure if you know, but once you finish the game, you can get quests from the end game area to get the rest of the heroes you didn't get from playing the story line (except Razah the rit hero...have to go to Domain of Anguish for his quest line.) Just talk to each hero you don't already have (they will have green exclamation points over their heads) to get the quests. And for the sake of completeness... Once you finish the game, map to Chantry of Secrets, go to the guy guarding the gate, talk to him and get ported to the other side of the gate. Walk up to the statue and /kneel and you'll be taken to the Gate of Anguish. Get the Finding a Purpose quest offered by Chaplain Phyratyss. When you first go in, do NOT run forward and attack, let them come to you. After that it's just careful pulling for the most part.

Assassin=Sousuke.. Coz your sin can already inflict conditions and intterupt.(if you got the good build)

Ritualist=Jin..Coz ritualist can maybe use hexes but not Bleeding or interrupt so fast. yor sin can intterupt so this i should choose.

I hope you get out of it

I'll take Jin then, Ranger Heroes with Broad Head Arrow are awsome. Ele heros are good too, but they arent that much better then some ele henchmen(Herta).

For your rit take Jin, the interupts are extremely usefull and your rit should have enough fire power not to need another ele assisting.

For your sin its a harder choice. Having an ele would be a good idea but the ranger could bring along a pet that might take some pressure off of you.

In the end you will wind up with both, so its just which one will you need more between now and when next you get to choose a Ranger or Elemental Hero.
